Hi, Steve has been my supervisor for the last couple of years. I am a distance, part-time student so didn't see him a lot. He did not tell me what his illness was although I knew he was poorly. He evaded my questions about his health. With hindsight, I think he was being kind to me by making sure our supervision relationship remained focused on me. He was a great supervisor - above all, he showed great interest in what I am doing and gave feedback that was really clear and possible to act upon. He even tried to show me how to use SPSS and kept me sane when dealing with some challenging Ethics admin. Thank you Steve - very sad not to have done my whole PhD journey with you as my supervisor. You were a lovely man.
